ILS funds will assist individuals in the Coastal Bend with products and services that will increase their ability to live independently without commitment to an employment objective.

Eligible consumers are those with significant disabilities whose ability to function independently in the home, family, or community is substantially limited due to impairment and for whom the delivery of Independent Living Services will substantially improve their ability to function, or reasonable expectations that services will improve functionality in the home, family, or community.

Services are based on eligibility and require special consideration in decision making based on federal and state standards.

This contract provides funding for additional purchased goods or services which, when coupled with core services, assists consumers to achieve their independent living goals.

The Independent Living Purchased Services program works with insurance and other resources and participants pay a share of the cost according to their income and expenses.

The categories of services for consideration are:

A. Assistive Technology

B. Counseling

C. Complex Rehabilitation Technology

D. Diabetes Self-Management Education Services

E. Independent Living Skills Training (Individualized Skills Training Only)

F. Interpreter, Translator, and Communication Services

G. Orientation and Mobility Services

H. Physical Rehabilitation and/or Therapeutic Treatment

I. Services for Individuals Who Are Deafblind

J. Vision Services
